Osteopathy is mostly provided privately in the UK, so there is no single standard fee. Prices vary by area, by clinic and by the length of the appointment, and the first appointment is usually longer and costs more than follow-ups. Here is what to expect and what to ask.
What affects the cost
- The length of the appointment. A first appointment includes a full history and examination, so it usually takes longer than follow-up sessions
- Where the practice is, and whether it is a home practice, a clinic or a multi-practitioner centre
- Whether it is osteopathy or a separate service such as sports massage

Fees at Lance Peterson Osteopathy
As at October 2026, an initial osteopathy consultation (45 minutes) is £75, a continuing osteopathy session (30 minutes) is £65, and a sports massage (45 minutes) is £55. Please check the Book page for the latest prices and availability, as fees may change.
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice are charged at the full fee, so please give at least 24 hours' notice if you need to rearrange.

- How many sessions do you expect I will need, and when will we review progress?
- Do you require payment up front for a block of sessions? Be cautious about anyone who pressures you to pre-pay for a long course

Claiming on insurance

Whatever the price, check that the practitioner is on the General Osteopathic Council register, and choose someone you feel listened to.
